Building two complete cruise ships over a three year period, a shipbuilder decided to outsource the transportation of parts and accessories to a logistics expert. They found that SGL Europe could provide the cost-effective, timely deliveries they needed.
We arranged transportation by sea and air of all the parts and accessories across the three year period to meet a series of deadlines.
We visited each supplier to get details of delivery dates, weights, dimensions and packaging requirements. And when it was time to transport the major pieces of equipment we carried out checks at each supplier to ensure everything went to plan. Break-bulk and container vessels were used to transport the ocean freight with special equipment used to safely move large parts.
We also provided expert supervision across the supply chain and developed a designated internet site for information to be input across the cargo's journey and the ship assembly process.
SGL Europe's logistics expertise ensured that:
Through safe, careful and expert logistics the two vessels were completed smoothly, as planned and without any unnecessary stoppages. They were completed by the designated time at the Japanese shipyard.
